When several of the city's most respected citizens are inexplicably killed by what appear to be zombies, all Detective Terry Lane has to go on is a blue grey glove, a Haitian pharmacy bill for some very unusual drugs and a death threat from a mysterious stranger. Matters are soon complicated when a beautiful nightclub singer shows up who claims to have information that could solve the case, but whose motives are plainly suspect. Against his better judgement, Terry investigates her lead only to find himself sealed in a coffin en route to the next zombie murder—his own.

This book was originally written during the pulp fiction era; the 1930’s-40’s. They are now being republished for those people who used to read them and also for the newer generations. The beginning of the book gives some history into the authors of pulp-fiction at that time and I found it very interesting. This particular chapter or serial is called “Death from the Grave”. In this fast paced detective novel bodies are showing up that people are claiming have been killed by dead people! Zombies are making a comeback today so these types of books should become very popular. I love how quickly Inspector Leonard and Detective Sergeant Terry Lane go to the scene of the crime and fight to the bitter end; coming out battered and bruised and next to death, but always get their man!
I look forward to reading future republished pulp-fiction novels in the future! I hope they continue to release them!

Dead Men Kill edition by L Ron Hubbard Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
Whatever opinions you may have about L. Ron Hubbard and Scientology, I invite you to put them down and simply enjoy this excellent mystery thriller. Before founding Scientology, Hubbard was a pulp fiction writer - and a good one at that!
Dead Men Kill is filled with action and keeps you guessing till the end. Hubbard's writing style is quick and keeps the story moving. Zombies, murder, mystery... what more can you ask for?
The lurid, highly stylized cover art represents the writing style perfectly. Think comic books and you're close. It isn't my thing but this short piece offers a change of pace from the books I normally read so I enjoyed it somewhat for that effect. Worthwhile as a curiosity piece.
Certainly an exciting read with action at the turn of every page, how the hero came out of it with the girl in the end is amazing. Let alone the zombie crew at every corner, but all ends well with even those being restored. I can understand how these type of stories captured the imagination of the time, with all the reality of living, nothing like some pure escapism to make the world seem a better place. Not my type of escape.
Entertaining early hard-boiled detective story about zombies. Although the hard-boiled attitude is dated, the story has dames and action in addition to zombies. Have never read L. Ron Hubbard before, so I cannot compare to his other work. This story was apparently first printed in one of the pulp magazines from the 1930s...it might have been serialized, since it is rather long for a story, closer to a novella than a story, so be prepared to spend appropriate time reading the book. It's not a 5- or 10-minute story.
Detective Terry Lane was tasked to solve the murder of a man named Gordon said to be killed by Jackson, said to have been dead and buried. A blue/grey glove was found at the scene of Gordon's body and the coroner said that Gordon had men strangled by small hands of a dead man!
Terry is determined to solve the murders of the two only to find another man is rumored to die said by a beautiful young woman who said she needed to privately talk to him but disappeared when he opened the taxi door..............
My stars, does Dead Men Kill intrigue you from the beginning and builds youe!! up for a great surprise
I have been a collector of Golden Age Pulp fiction for a number of years and it is great to see the Mr. Hubbard's works are again now available. I had this title in its original pulp form many years ago and glad to see that it has been released in a brand new easy to read format. The story is as great as it every was and Mr. Hubbard never fails to tale a good tell. This isn't your modern day "Zombie" story so if you are look for that you will be disappointed but if you are looking to be entertained you can't miss with this. This is what you would call a police or detective genre which we do not see so much these days. This type of genre was very popular at one time and now has been lumped in to Mystery or Suspense. This story is fast moving and keeps your interest through out. It is a great read for any one that is a fan of good story telling.

I really should get the audio version since that really dramatizes the story just like Old Time Radio, but I digress.
I'm really happy with this product, how they are reprinting these pulps in inexpensive ways for us fans of these kinds of novellas. Dead Men Kill was interesting in its premise about rich businessmen being killed by their "dead" secretaries. And a detective (who gets captured and nearly killed himself) on the trail of the Hyena.
What is the connection between a Haitian pharmacy, Ms. Lane the exotic dancer, and a man we don't suspect is the real mastermind (who wants to take over the city, of course).
The plot is nothing new -- bad guy, cynical good guy, a police captain who "doesn't want to hear it" and a beautiful girl who is quite the backstabber!
Suggested not only for Hubbard pulp fans, but anyone who enjoys those stories from the Golden Age. I have always liked these tales, since listening to the old Dick Tracy and Inner Sanctum radio shows. Inner Sanctum Mysteries, Vol. 3
